New TV
29 Mar 2018 (Thurs) - Our new TV arrived today!!!! We bought it two weeks back at the IT Show at Suntec. Super love our new 55" Samsung curved smart TV! Being curved, it means one can view the screen very clearly even though sitting by the side. You eyes also will not feel tired easily. Love the smart remote control too. Just press the mic button, say the channel or programme name and the channel will change accordingly or do a search for you! The girls are so happy, lol. As for their dad, he can't deny that as usual, the wife made a wise and good decision for the benefit of the household, which is to replace the TV for better enjoyment. HEH HEH HEH!
As for the old 42" TV, I donated it away to a low income family.

Home Improvement 2017 (October)
We did some minor changes to our house!
Claris will be going to Primary 1 next year and we decided to change the kids' sleeping arrangements. They have been sharing a king-sized mattress over the past two years and our plan is to make them sleep separately so that Claris' earlier waking hours will not affect Clara.
1) Repainting the bedroom
This is hard work. It took us 1.5 days. Love the "Restful" colour. Spent about $125 on paint and tools.
2) Ordered two sets of Super Single bedframes and mattresses from Shing Hup.
Bed frame: $265 each
Mattress: $480 each
Mattress trade-in: $100
3) Bought a 5-feet sliding wardrobe from Shing Hup. Damage: $780
Also took the chance to sort out the girls' clothes and gave quite a lot away.
4) New sofa from Sea Horse. Damage: $622
This is the second replacement set and I like it very much cos....
a) It's not as puffy as the first set, so it's more comfortable.
b) It's not as glossy as the first set, and I like it this way.
c) The seats can recline all the way! When I bought it, I thought only the leg part can recline, haha!
5) Decluttered the house
a) Got rid of 4 IKEA toy baskets and 2 big IKEA plastic boxes in the LVR and transferred all the toys to two Toyogo 4-tier drawers. Also removed the black tray beside the TV console and replaced the spot with their book rack.
b) Shifted the white chest of drawers into the study and use it to store colouring materials, puzzles...etc.
c) Converted the girls' pink IKEA wardrobe to a book cabinet by removing the hanger bar and buying an additional shelf to slot in. Shifted it to the balcony.
6) Cleared out kitchen cabinet
Cleared out half the things in the kitchen cabinet and donated away things like used water bottles, snack boxes and containers. The shelves look so much neater now!
7) Big wardrobe for the kids
8) New dining table
Tried to redo the film on our Mondi black tempered glass dining table but it looked kinda ugly. It's our third time doing this. The last time we installed the film was a few years ago. Somehow the process didn't go smoothly this time. I really think its ugly! Our dining chairs need to be replaced anyway, so I took the chance to get a whole new set!
Old table:
Our dining area looked so empty after the table was taken away. I quite like the big space and emptiness!
Our new dining table makes our dining area look so much brighter now! It's smaller than the previous table, measuring 1.4m by 0.8m. The old one measured 1.6m by 0.9m.
9) Cleared out the things in the three drawers of the study table and compartmentalized the items.
10) Cleaned the grout lines on our homo tiles!
We spent two hours to clean all the homo tiles in the house! They include the LVR, dining area, kitchen and service balcony. See the before (top half of first pic) and after (bottom half)???? Love Daiso melamine sponges!
11) Repainted the gate
He repainted the gate on 18 Nov! This is the last of our home improvement project for this year, yay!!!

Installation of Ceiling Fan in the LVR and Repair of Laminate Trimming
8 Jan 2015 (Thurs) - Ever since Evelyn mentioned how 'shiok' it is to have a ceiling fan in the house (that was on New Year's Day), it has been hanging on my mind, cos I have been feeling super hot recently. To my delight, Kitty did not object even though he doesn't like the idea of having a ceiling fan in the house!
Went to Silver Lighting House on Monday night and ended up buying an Amasco 56" Refresh 5-bladed fan. Add on LED light and remote control. Total damage $584.
Installation was on Wednesday and the whole thing took less than 30mins. Only thing is, the old LVR light caused super ugly marks and holes on our ceiling! It was such an eyesore that I insisted on starting beautification works that very night.
Had dinner at JP with Kitty and bought a small can of white paint. Back at home, Kitty filled the ceiling holes with putty, then painted the first coat of white paint. After the first coat was painted, the ceiling looked more bearable.
Today, Kitty painted the second coat of white paint and now our ceiling looks as good as new!!! The new paint work seems flushed with the original paint! I think he can be a professional freelance painter liao lah! Check out the transformation!

Today, we also went to Power Dekor to buy a piece of laminate trimming to replace the one in our study that cracked and peeled. Kitty replaced it, looks so much nicer now! Its good to have a man in the house, haha!

Changing kitchen tap, new laundry system
5 Oct 2014 (Sun) - Changing our kitchen tap for the first time cos I find the water flow too slow. Been complaining for years but never got around to doing anything cos its an expensive tap that we have. Must get this 'project' done before Clara comes out, else...we will never get around to doing it, haha.

Its Kitty's first time doing it, and ours is a bit more complicated cos we are changing from a mixer tap to a cold water tap. Bought our new tap from Sim Siang Choon for $38 (cheap right!) and all the relating tools from there too. Thankfully, Kitty succeeded!!!! Our new tap may not look as sophisticated as the old one, but the water flow is fantastic!!!!! I love it!!! Love practicality!!! Wahahahhahaa!
In preparation for Clara's arrival, we decided to change our laundry system to make sorting of clothes easier. Bought this from IKEA for $75 (structure, 3 mesh baskets, top shelf, castors) and replaced our current laundry basket. A bit of a pity, cos our current one is really good and looks cool, but too bad its a single structure and can't do any sorting.

Installing doors for our WIW
22 Jan 2014 (Wed) - I have been grumbling about the dust in the WIW for a few years already and had thought of installing doors. However the estimated cost of a few thousand dollars put me off, plus the fact that some of the renovation companies I approached told me it cannot be done cos of the weird angle of the shelving.
I was cleaning the shelves 2 weeks ago and it took me a freaking 45mins to 1 hour just to clean everything. As usual, I had to clean all the boxes and shelves. I find that very time consuming and thus, went to ask for quotations again, this time patronizing a shop owned by an uncle I know. The carpenter came over in the evening and to my delight, told me that doors CAN be installed!! I was so happy! The cost though, would be around $3500 after discount. I told Kitty about it and requested to have doors installed. Thankfully, he agreed!!! So happy!!!
Fast-forward to Wednesday. I sent C to school in the morning then quickly rushed home to let the carpenters in. I had asked Mdm Yik to help me pick C from school. The carpenters came to install the doors in our WIW and replace the hinges for our shoe cabinet and storeroom. Work completed at 5pm. Our WIW looks so nice and tidy now! Super love the design! I also love the fact that the new hinges for the shoe cabinet and storeroom makes opening the doors noiseless! I spent the next few hours cleaning up. 2 whole hours just to wipe the cupboard lor. Here are the pics!

2nd Window Film for the Dining Table
5 Jan 2014 (Sun) - Recently, I noticed many scratches on the window film on the dining table. Wanted to buy a new table but it seems kinda wasteful. To make myself feel better as the table is an eyesore, I decided to be contented with replacing the window film. The removal process was super tiring. The old film was extremely hard to peel off. By the time we managed to remove it, we were both super tired, lol. Thankfully, the new window film was super easy to apply unlike the first one. No air bubbles trapped, no nothing. Pretty! So pro! And the moment I finished trimming off the excess at the sides....Claris woke up. Perfect timing on our part to do it during her nap time!
